T/HERE Concrete Book
This object is a ‘concrete book’ from the tradition of concrete poetry. It is about the awareness of personal vs. public space. On the top of this 5″ x 5″ box is the word “THERE”. When a participant picks up the box, the sound of their interaction with the box is broadcast from an FM radio across the room. They become acutely aware of others in the room as their actions are causing an annoyance in the space they are in.

When the lid of the box is lifted the radio across the room falls silent and the participant is left “HERE” with the quiet space of their own presence.
