Vox Populi, once a shaky alliance of young artists who wanted to show their artwork in Philadelphia, has just wrapped up its twenty-first exhibition season. It’s an unlikely story of survival – also of excellence and mediocrity, push and shove.
This book catalogs the twenty-first year of programming at Vox: 26 member solo shows, 4 group alumni exhibitions, 1 guest-curated exhibition, 1 juried exhibition featuring 52 emerging artists, 9 Video Lounge exhibitions in new media, and a host of music, film and performance events, discussions, lectures, and parties – all fueled by volunteer labor and collective vision. It is difficult to say exactly how many individuals exhibited, sang, shared info, or walked on stilts at Vox last year.
This book is now available for purchase from the gallery.
